Who was the last major league baseball team to integrate?
Which Major League Baseball team was the last one to put a black man on their team? Who was that player?

- Boston Red Sox - Pumpsie Green. He made his first appearance in July of 1959, 12 years after Jackie Robinson and five years after every other AL team had their first black player.
- Boston Red Sox in 1959. I live in L.A., which is saturated with a mixture of hispanics, blacks, whites, asians, middle eastern, etc. Last time I watched a Red Sox game on TV, I couldn't pick out ONE non-white fan in the stands. Not saying there wasn't one, but every single solitary fan I could see was white. Even 20 years ago, when the NBA had long been dominated by blacks, the Boston Celtics roster had several white players: Larry Byrd, Kevin McCale, plus several other whites - way more than any other team. Strange. So no surprise it's Boston - a full 12 years after Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier. Not exactly jumping on the integrated band-wagon.
- Red Sox.
- In response to ironwood, I am a season ticket holder for the Red Sox and very rarely see many blacks if any at Fenway. Once there was a black guy who sat next to me and said, "Where are all the blacks?" He saw a black guy selling hot dogs and said, "Oh, they're working." Just giving you some perspective.
